STARTING AND STOPPING ENGINE
Starting the Engine
WARNING: TO AVOID INJURY do not
attempt to start or move any of the control
levers unless standing with both feet on the
platform and holding the hand grips.
1. Stand on operator platform.
2. Move the auxiliary hydraulics control to its neutral
position.
WARNING: To prevent attachment
movement, make certain the auxiliary
hydraulic lever is in a neutral position during
engine starting.
CAUTION: Check that all control levers are in
neutral (center) position, especially the
auxiliary hydraulic control. If this lever is not in
neutral and the hydraulic activator switch is
depressed, the engine will attempt to start
under full load.
For the gasoline engine:
1. Move the throttle control to half throttle.
2. Move the choke control to ON before starting a
cold engine.
3. Turn ignition key to START to engage starter.
Release key when engine starts.
IMPORTANT: The starter should not be engaged for
more than 10 seconds for each starting attempt. Allow
the starter to cool for 30 seconds between starting
attempts. Failure to allow cool-down may burn out the
starter.
4. When the engine starts, the choke can be slowly
moved to the "OFF" position. If the engine stalls,
move the choke lever back toward "ON" and slowly
move to the "OFF" position.
5. Place the throttle lever in the desired position.
6. Disengage parking brake.
7. Press hydraulic activator switch.
For the diesel engine:
1. Turn the ignition key to the thermo start position
and hold for 7 seconds.
2. Turn key to start position.
3. Release the key when the engine starts.
4. Place the throttle lever in the desired position.
5. Disengage parking brake.
6. Press hydraulic activator switch.
Stopping the Engine
In an emergency, stop the engine by turning the ignition
key to OFF. Under normal conditions:
1. Lower attachment to the ground.
2. Move throttle lever to slow. Allow a hot engine to
idle for a short time before stopping.
3. Turn the key to OFF.
DRIVING THE UNIT
WARNING: To prevent tipping, DO NOT drive
unit without attachment when weight kit is
installed. ALWAYS remove weight kit when
removing attachment. ALWAYS install weight
kit when installing an attachment that requires
weight kit.
Speed
The farther the traction control levers are moved, the
faster the unit will move. Always move levers slowly.
To slow down, slowly move levers toward neutral.
To stop, slowly move levers to neutral.
The levers should automatically return to neutral when
released.
Steering
To go straight forward, push forward on
both levers with equal pressure.
To turn left, decrease pressure on left
lever.
To turn right, decrease pressure on
right lever.
To go straight backwards, pull rearward
on both levers with equal pressure.
OK0520
NOTE: Aggressive turning can scuff or damage lawns.
ALWAYS keep all wheels rotating when making sharp
turns. DO NOT make turns with inside wheels
completely stopped. To obtain minimum turning radius,
slowly reverse inside wheels while moving outside
wheels slowly forward.
