Possible cause and remedy
An empty pan was heated up.

 Wait until the residual heat indicator  goes out

 Cook only with filled pans.
The touch display is covered, e.g. by finger contact,
food boiling over, or an object.
 Clean off any dirt and/or remove the object (see
"Safety features - Safety switch-off").

 Position the pan correctly (see "Operation -

There is an electronic unit fault.
 Interrupt the power supply to the cooktop for
approx. 1 minute.
