USB CHARGING PORTS
See Figure 1.
The USB-dedicated charging ports will charge most USB-
compatible devices.
 For MP3, cell phones, and other small USB devices (up
to 1.9 Amps), connect to the top USB port.
 For tablets and high-charging current devices (up to
2.1 Amps) connect to the bottom USB port.
NOTE: The USB-dedicated charging port provides power
only; it does not provide any communication capabilities.
A suitable USB cable must be provided by the user.
GENCONTROL
LCD DISPLAY
See Figure 2.
NOTE: If the engine is off, the LCD display will not work
unless the battery is connected and the EASY START dial
is in the ON position.
Before the engine is started, the GENCONTROL
display shows the generator's current fuel level, battery
status, total run hours, and Bluetooth
Once the engine is started, the display changes to show the
current fuel status, load level, run time remaining, Bluetooth
connection status, and the shut down timer, when applicable.
See below for more details about these indicators.
NOTE: The LCD display is equipped with a power-saving
sleep mode that is activated when the engine is not started
within 15 minutes of turning the EASY START dial to the
ON position. To wake the display, press and release the
Bluetooth
pairing button.
®
The following information is available on the GENCONTROL
LCD display
Fuel level: The fuel level indicator will show how much fuel
is remaining.
Auto idle: The LCD display will show if the idle is on or off.
Battery status: The battery status indicator shows the
battery charge level.
Total run hours: The total run hours indicator shows how
many hours the generator engine has been run over the life
of the unit. Total run hours can only be viewed on the LCD
screen while there is a charged RYOBI
installed, and the generator is turned on but not running.
When the generator is running, this is specific to the app.
Load level: The load level indicator will show the connected
load. If the generator is approaching the maximum wattage/
amperage capacity, the indicator will blink. If load level
capacity is exceeded, the LCD display will show OVERLOAD.
To reset the generator, remove all loads from the generator
and press the reset button (see fig. 1). Add loads back to
the generator one at a time, being careful not to exceed the
generator's wattage rating.
Run time: The LCD display will show the approximate
remaining run time based on fuel level and load.
Bluetooth
: Once paired, the LCD display will indicate

Shut down timer: The shut down timer appears only when
a shut down time has been set using the GENCONTROL
app. The timer icon will begin to flash when the timer reaches
10 minutes or less.
CHECKING/ADDING LUBRICANT
See Figure 3.
NOTICE:
Attempting to start the engine before it has been properly
filled with lubricant will result in equipment failure.
NOTE: If a separate engine manual is provided for this
product, please follow the instructions provided in the
engine manual instead of the information listed below.
Engine lubricant has a major influence on engine performance
and service life. For general, all-temperature use, SAE 10W-
30 is recommended. Always use a 4-stroke motor lubricant
that meets or exceeds the requirements for API service
classification SJ.
This engine comes with a feature that will shut off the engine
when a specific lubricant level is not maintained. The engine
will not restart until an appropriate lubricant level is reached.
NOTE: Non-detergent or 2-stroke engine lubricants will
damage the engine and should not be used.
 Loosen the knob at the side of the engine cover. Remove
cover and set aside.
 Unscrew the oil cap/dipstick and remove.
 Wipe dipstick clean and re-seat in hole; do not re-thread.
 Remove dipstick again and check lubricant level. Lubricant
level should fall between the minimum and maximum
marks on the dipstick.
 If level is low, add engine lubricant until the fluid level rises
between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick.
 Replace and secure the oil cap/dipstick.
 Reinstall cover.
USING FUEL STABILIZER
Fuel gets old, oxidizes, and breaks down over time. Adding
a fuel stabilizer (not included) extends the usable life of fuel
and helps prevent deposits from forming that can clog the
fuel system. Follow fuel stabilizer manufacturer's directions
for correct ratio of stabilizer to fuel.
 Mix fuel stabilizer and gasoline prior to filling the tank
by using a gas can or other approved fuel container and
shaking gently to combine.
NOTE: To control the amount of fuel stabilizer being added
to the engine, always mix fuel stabilizer with gasoline
before fueling the tank rather than adding fuel stabilizer
directly into the generator's fuel tank.
 Replace and secure the fuel tank cap.
 Start and run the engine for at least 5 minutes to allow
stabilizer to treat the entire fuel system.
