How to setup a basic proVEOS system
What you need:
 A proVEOS unit & included power supply, DVI-VGA adaptor, etc.
 A projector or LCD/Plasma display
 VGA or DVI cable of sufficient length
 Stereo (powered) Speakers if in-room PA system is not available.
 A 3.5mm TRS cable terminating in the appropriate connection to powered
speakers or local PA system
 Optional: RS-232 cable –connected between VEOS unit and projector, or
RS232 equipped LCD or Plasma display.
 An Ethernet cable to connect VEOS to an existing IP network or:
 A simple wireless router like a Lynksys WRT54G, etc.
A person with network administrator rights will need to be available initially to
configure VEOS for operation on the local network. Users wishing to log onto
the VEOS gateway will need to be on the same IP scope as the gateway. If
the local network switch or router has firewalls in place, the following ports
need to be opened in order for presentation to take place: 2122, 9954, 9990,
9998, and 9999.
If using the stand-alone wireless router method to create a dedicated wireless
network & access point for VEOS, it is helpful to change the SSID of the
router to a name that identifies the VEOS gateway like, "VEOS Conf RM 1."
Because VEOS units require a static IP address, it is a good practice to
reserve the IP address (manually) assigned to VEOS unit so that the router's
DHCP service doesn't assign the same IP address to any user joining the
network.

  • Page 3 Welcome  Thank you for choosing the proVEOS Wireless Presentation Gateway. ProVEOS is an advanced network‐ based, presentation solution that enables wireless presentation and collaborative interaction between  multiple participants.            At its most fundamental level, VEOS is simply a gateway between your wired or wireless computer  network and a video projector or large display. It works with any local area network (LAN/ WLAN/  Intranet/ Internet) and any Windows or Mac computers connected to the network. It enables you to  send the display from any laptop to the projector over the network connection instead of passing  around VGA cables and configuring display settings.    Enabling shared access to a projector or display is just the beginning; VEOS also provides a platform for  collaborative interaction between all computers that are logged onto it.     Interactive chat and white board features   Play video and audio files on the big screen in HD quality    Staff can easily control granting access to the projector to ensure a smooth presentation flow   And much more…    IMPORTANT NOTE:  VEOS is a network dependant product and therefore requires an  understanding of networking basics and network administrator rights in order to be installed  successfully. Trouble‐free operation of the VEOS solution depends on the proper configuration  and operation of the network, wireless access points, etc.      Read Me First | 3 ...

    Configure IP Settings  Connect the USB keyboard and mouse to the proVEOS gateway, press Alt + Tab to open the  configuration and settings dialogue box. To close this dialogue box, press Alt + F4.            Click on Network Setting to launch the IP configuration interface. Configure the TCP/IP settings  for inclusion on your local network. You have to do this before proVEOS can accept connections  from clients to make presentations over the network. The following settings are available:    PARAMETER        DESCRIPTION          DEFAULT  Gateway Name  Name of the proVEOS gateway on the network.  proVEOS  IP Address  Enter a unique, fixed IP address for the proVEOS  192.168.1.1  gateway, which conforms to your network scope.  Subnet Mask  Enter the subnet mask matching your network.  255.255.255.0  Default Gateway  The IP address of an available Internet gateway on the  192.168.1.1  network. This is usually the IP address of a router.  DNS Server  IP address of a domain name server (DNS) for domain  192.168.1.1  name resolution.  Support Apple’s Mac ...

  • Page 8 Install the proVEOS Client  In order for computers to be able to access the proVEOS gateway, the VEOS a client application  must be installed on their local machine. The client application installer is a downloadable file  found on the proVEOS gateway home page.  Enter the address of the proVEOS gateway in an  Internet browser’s address bar and press Enter. The screen below will load in your browser.  Then simply click on the link to the installer you wish to use.  Note: you must be on the same  network range or ‘scope’ in order to access the VEOS gateway.      There are 3 client installer choices:  proVEOS Windows Client  Installer program for Windows (32‐bit versions of 2k, XP, Vista & Windows 7)  proVEOS Mac Client  Standard installer for Mac OS X  (Intel Based Macs running 10.4 or higher)  proVEOS Mac Virtual Client  This is a client application that runs without installing any software on  the local machine.  proVEOS USB Dongle Client  Similar to Mac virtual client above, but runs as an auto‐executable from  the included USB thumb‐drive found in the VEOS software case.   Just follow the installation prompts from each installer.     Read Me First | 8 ...

    Configure Firewall Settings  By default, the proVEOS client installer adds a list of exceptions to Windows firewall software  that enables the proVEOS software to connect and communicate with the proVEOS gateway.  You may still need to manually configure your computer’s firewall if you are using an additional   party firewall program such as Symantec, McAfee or Zone Alarm, etc.                                                       Note: With 3  party firewalls, you may need to specifically ensure that these ports are not  blocked: 2122, 9954, 9990, 9998, and 9999. Refer to your 3  party software documentation   Read Me First | 10 ...
  • Page 11 Present with wowVEOS    After installation, a shortcut is added to the Start Menu under WOW‐Vision > VEOS > Launch  VEOS Client.          Click on the shortcut to launch the VEOS software.    On Macs, the VEOS client is installed in the Applications folder by default. Navigate to the file  using Finder and double click on the icon to launch.           If you opted to install the icon on the Windows desktop,   you can also launch the proVEOS client by double‐clicking   on the proVEOS desktop shortcut:              Read Me First | 11 ...
  • Page 12 Configuring the gateway Address  When you first run the client, you will be notified that is no default location configured.      Enter the IP address of the VEOS gateway you’ve  just configured.            Next, enter the participant credentials to log onto to the wowVEOS gateway: On new  installations, default participant accounts are available:  Staff (moderator/admin level)  Participant (user only level)  user name:    su  user name:   user   password:     supass  password:     userpass    Click the Login button to sign in. Select the Projector Group to join (there is only one by  default).                                  Read Me First | 12 ...
