Which RAID level should I use?
The right choice of RAID level depends on the application for which it is used.
The chart below illustrates possible applications for each level of RAID
supported by Sony.

Drives Application requires:
2 - 4 High speed storage, but not redundancy.
2 - 4 Redundancy with fast write options. Entry-
level systems where only two hard disc
drives are required.
3 - 4 Good performance for Reads, slower for
Writes (requires parity data be updated
each time. May provide higher
performance if I\O is random and in
smaller chunks).
4 Highest performance with data protection.
