Handling precautions

General
■ SC-42A is waterproof/dustproof, but do not allow liquids (drinking
water, perspiration, sea water, pet urine, etc.) such as water, etc.
or dust to seep into the terminal and do not allow accessories or
optional devices to get wet or dusty.
Adapter, docomo nanoUIM card are not waterproof/dustproof. Do not use
them in a humid place such as bathroom or in the rain. If you carry your
terminal on your body, perspiration may corrode the internal parts of the
terminal and cause malfunction. Note that malfunctions deemed to be
caused by water are not covered by the warranty. To repair the terminal,
contact "Technical Inquiries & Repairs" provided on the last page of this
manual or a repair center specified by DOCOMO.
■ Clean the terminal with a dry soft cloth (such as used for cleaning
eyeglasses).
• Rubbing it roughly may scratch the display.
• Drops of water or dirt left on the display may cause stains.
• If this terminal is wiped with alcohol, paint thinner, benzine or
detergent, the printing may disappear or color may fade.
■ Clean the jacks occasionally to use them in a clean state.
If you use the jacks when they are soiled, they may not function
correctly.
When cleaning, be careful not to damage the jacks, etc.
■ Do not leave the terminal near the air conditioning vent.
Extreme temperature changes may produce condensation and corrode
the internal parts of the terminal, causing it to malfunction.
■ Make sure to use the terminal, etc. without excessive force.
If you put the terminal in a bag full of items or sit down with the terminal
in the pocket of your clothes, it may damage parts such as display,
internal circuit board or internal battery, etc. and cause the terminal to
malfunction.
Also, while the external device is connected to the external connection
jack, it may cause malfunction or damage.
■ Use the optional equipment specified by NTT DOCOMO for the
terminal.
If you use products other than specified, it may cause malfunction or
damage.
■ Read the instruction manual supplied with optional devices.
■ Do not drop this terminal or subject it to shock.

Terminal precautions
■ Do not press display surface forcibly, or not operate with a sharp
pointed objects.
May hurt the screen and cause malfunction or damage.
■ Do not use the terminal in extremely hot or cold places.
Use the terminal within a temperature range of 0℃ to 35℃ and a
humidity range of 0% to 95%.
■ The terminal may affect home electronics (TVs or radios, etc.) in
use nearby, so use it as far as possible from these appliances.
■ Keep the information that you registered in the terminal separately
by backing up to microSD card, PC, cloud, etc. or noting down.
Note that DOCOMO assumes no responsibility for any loss of saved
data.
■ Do not plug the connector of the external device into the external
connection jack at the slant and pull it while connecting.
May cause malfunction or damage.
■ The terminal could become warm while in use and charging. This
condition is not abnormal. You can continue to use the terminal.

operation.
■ Do not decorate the terminal with plastic film or stickers.
Various functions that use the proximity sensor may not function
correctly.
