4. If the engine oil is at or below the
minimum level mark, remove the
oil ller cap and add oil.
5. Check the engine oil ller cap O-
ring. Replace if damaged.

6. Install the engine oil ller cap.
To change the engine oil (and lter)
1. Start the engine and allow it to idle
for a few minutes to warm up the
oil, and then stop the engine.
2. Place an oil pan under the engine
to collect the used oil.
3. Remove the engine oil ller cap,
and then the engine oil drain bolt
and gasket.

TIP
Skip steps 4–6 if the oil lter cartridge
is not being replaced.
4. Remove the oil lter cartridge with
an oil lter wrench.

TIP
An oil lter wrench is available at a
Yamaha dealer.
5. Apply a thin coat of clean engine
oil to the O-ring of the new oil lter
cartridge.

Make sure that the O-ring is properly
seated.
6. Install the new oil lter cartridge,
and then tighten to the speci ed
torque.
