Maintenance
If electrolyte (battery fluid) gets into
your eyes, flush them with clean
water for at least 15 minutes and
get immediate medical attention. If
possible, continue to apply water
with a sponge or cloth while on the
way to a doctor.
If electrolyte gets on your skin, thor-
oughly wash the contacted area. If
you feel pain or a burning sensa-
tion, get medical attention immedi-
ately.
When lifting a plastic-coated bat-
tery, excessive pressure on the end
walls could cause acid to spew
through the vent caps, resulting
in personal injury. Lift the battery
with a carrier or with your hands on
opposite corners.

To get the best service from a battery:
S Keep it securely mounted.
S Keep the top clean and dry.
S Keep terminals and connections
clean, tight, and coated with petro-
leum jelly or terminal grease.
S Rinse off spilled electrolyte immedi-
ately with a solution of water and bak-
ing soda.
S If the vehicle will not be used for an
extended time, disconnect the battery
cables.

Tires
For reasons of proper performance,
safety, and better fuel economy, always
maintain recommended tire inflation
pressures and stay within the recom-
mended load limits and weight distribu-
tion.
