Activating Windows®
In order to be able to use your operating system without restrictions, you must activate it with
Microsoft®. The type of activation depends on which Windows 10 version you have purchased
for your system. Whether your Windows 10 is an OEM or System Builder version can be seen
on your invoice.
Windows 10 OEM version
For the Windows 10 OEM version, the product key is stored on your system's motherboard
and no command prompt is displayed. If you are connected to the Internet, the product is
automatically activated.
Windows 10 System Builder Version
The request to enter the product key is normally made when the PC system is first put into
operation. You will find the product key for your operating system on the certificate of authen-
ticity ("COA") that you will find in the packaging of your Windows 10 System Builder version.
Please enter this product key during activation.
Some Certificates of Authenticity ("COA") are provided with a product key that is located on
an area to be scratched free. Excessive scratching of this area can destroy the product key and
make it unreadable. To avoid this, we have already exposed this area for you with the corre-
sponding certificates of authenticity.
The activation takes place directly with an existing Internet connection or via free telephone
hotline. Just follow the instructions for product activation on your screen.
Certificate of Authenticity ("Product Key")
Please note:
PCs without a Certificate of Authenticity (with automatic activation) may incur
problems when reactivating the system after changing the motherboard. We therefore
recommend that you log in to Microsoft and link your Windows 10 license to a Microsoft
account so that you can reactivate your Windows 10 at any time. You will be prompted to log
in to Microsoft during the setup process. You can also set up your Microsoft account at a later
stage.
