Optional Hardware Connectors

There are additional feature connectors on the mainboard for
optional ports. These require optional external port hardware.
IR Ports
There is one standard and one optional connector on the main-
board which support an IR (infrared) port module that enables
wireless communication between the computer and other com-
puters and devices with an infrared port. The default IR connec-
tor, SIR, is for Intel IR compatible modules and the optional FIR
connector is for a Fast IR module.
The port module is an optional component. If it is installed,
you must set the UART 2 line in the Integrated Peripherals sec-
tion of the CMOS Setup utility to the appropriate IR mode used
by the module.
