Two-hand control unit
Instructions
WARNING:
HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE
CAN CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHOCK
AND BURNS.
DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE PROCEEDING
WITH ANY WORK ON THIS EQUIPMENT.
Operation permissible in switchgear cabinet with degree of protection
IP 54 only!
Application
3TK2811 is suitable for installation in controls for presses.
- "Eccentric and related presses" EN 692 (06.96)
- "Hydraulic presses" DIN EN 693 (07.92)
- "Screw presses".
Functions and connecions
The output contacts (14, 24) return to their original position if one pushbut-
ton (S1/2) is released after simultaneous activation. They do not respond
again until both pushbuttons have been released and activated simultane-
ously once again.
Notes:
-
o not lay the connecting cables between 3TK2811 and the pushbut-
D
tons directly next to power cables; inductive or capacitive disturbance
injection might occur.
- On account of the low currents we recommend pushbutton contacts
with gold plating or pushbutton 3SB3.
Only connect the unit as shown in the following
a
3TK2811
K5 and K6 must be positively driven contactors
b
Spark suppression:
When controlling inductive loads such as relays or contactors, a spark
suppressor must be connected parallel to the inductance.
Do
connect parallel to output contact!
not
AC: Spark suppression e.g. by RC element
DC: Spark suppression e.g. by free wheeling diode
c
Controlling a load:
When controlling only one load (e.g. valve), the outputs must be con-
nected in series.

Install the unit on a vertical wall.
Minimum clearances from earthed parts on the sides: 3 mm
Connection
(Fig. IIIb)
Attention!
The pushbuttons of the two-hand control unit must be placed far enough
away from the nearest danger spot so that even when only one pushbutton
is released the closing motion is interrupted before the operator can reach
into the danger spot. (See prEN 999 (09.95) "Hand-arm-speed").
Operation
1. Apply the operating voltage (U
The operating voltage must be de-energized with the operating energy
of the press.
2. Close the feedback loop:
Connect the bridge to X1-X2 or NC contacts of external contactors.
3. Connect the input circuit:
Connect pushbutton 1 (S1) to terminals T11-T12-T13
and pushbutton 2 (S2) to terminals T21-T22-T23
4. If necessary, earth the control current circuit of the two-hand control
unit:
Connect T21 with PE conductor.
