Troubleshooting

First, try out the following procedures (P170–181).
If the problem is not resolved, it may be improved by selecting [Reset]
[Setup] menu.
Battery and power source
The camera cannot be operated even when it is turned on.
The camera turns off immediately after it is turned on.
The battery is exhausted.
> Charge the battery.
If you leave the camera on, the battery will be exhausted.
> Turn the camera off frequently by using the [Economy].
The camera does not turn off.
The camera has stopped responding during use.
If the camera should stop responding or stop working correctly in other ways, remove the battery,
re-insert it, and turn on the camera again.
We recommend that you keep the following points in mind when using the camera:
Before using the card, format
(Save all necessary data on the card to a PC or other device in advance.)
Before using the camera, set the clock.
Operate the buttons and other controls slowly and carefully.
(If you press a button repeatedly in quick succession or press multiple buttons simultaneously, the
camera may stop responding.)
Perform the next recording or operation only after the access indication
(If you operate the camera while the access indication is displayed, the image being recorded may
not be saved correctly.)
The charging lamp blinks.
This phenomenon occurs when charging in a location where the temperature is very high or very
low.
> Reconnect the USB connection cable (supplied) in a location where the ambient temperature
(and the temperature of battery) is in a 10 oC to 30 oC (50 oF to 86 oF) range, and try charging
again.
Cannot charge the battery.
Disconnect the USB connection cable (supplied) and connect it again.
If your PC is not capable of supplying sufficient power, charging is not possible.
Card/battery door does not close.
Insert the battery securely all the way in.
