The ST-BTPN offers the touchpanel user the freedom to roam without being confined to a stationary power source (i.e., external battery pack or docking station). The ST-BTPN can be charged when it is mounted on the ST-DSN docking station. The ST-BTPN can also be charged when mounted on the older ST-DS docking station.

The docking station begins charging the battery once the battery has cooled. Physical Description The ST-BTPN (refer to illustrations below and on the next page) is housed in a black plastic enclosure with its electrical contacts on the top and bottom of the unit.

Avoid accidental shorting from uninsulated workbenches, tools, bracelets, rings, and coins. Storage The ST-BTPN can be stored in a temperate dry place (removed from the touchpanel and docking station) indefinitely without significant irreversible degradation in its performance. The self-discharge rate is a function of temperature and internal resistance.
These models have the same shape and battery compartment location. Therefore, as an example, the illustration on the next page shows the ST-BTPN properly seated in the ST-1700C. Complete the steps on the next page to install the battery.

1. Place touchpanel screen-side down on a clean and soft surface. 2. Place the designated end of the ST-BTPN into the touchpanel battery compartment. Refer to illustration on next page.
Complete the following steps to remove the ST-BTPN from a touchpanel. 1. Place touchpanel screen-side down on a clean and soft surface. 2. Lift latch up so that one edge of ST-BTPN pops out of touchpanel battery compartment. 3. Rotate battery pack out and remove.
