Safety
First read the entire instruction manual and make sure that you have
understood all the information regarding safety and maintenance in order
to be able to use the voltage tester in a safe way.
Warning:
• The function of the voltage tester should be checked on a known
voltage source before measuring is commenced.
• Only grip the test probes by the handles. Never touch the tips of
the test probes.
• The voltage tester must only be used on circuits within the specified
measuring range (690 V).
• The voltage tester should not be connected to a voltage source for
more than 30 seconds at a time.
• Do not use the voltage tester if it is in any way damaged or malfunctioning.
• Do not use the voltage tester in a wet or humid environment.
Accurate readings can only be guaranteed within the temperature
and humidity ranges specified in the Specifications section below.
• Safety can no longer be guaranteed if the voltage tester does not
display reliable readings.
• When using the voltage tester, only touch the gripping surfaces of
the test probes, never touch the metal tips.

Continuity (closed circuit test)

The voltage tester should not be disposed of in your bin as
household waste. The voltage tester should be regarded
as waste electrical and electronic equipment and taken to
your local household waste recycling centre for disposal in
accordance with local regulations. If you are unsure how to
proceed, contact your local council.

The UT18C is an advanced voltage tester capable of testing AC and
DC voltages from 12 V to 690 V. The voltage tester is capable of RCD
testing, phase sequence testing and continuity testing. It is designed to
be suitable for use by professional electricians and homeowners alike.

Measuring DC voltage

Touch the tips of the test probes against the object under test.

For voltages over 12 V the voltage tester starts automatically.

If the plus sign lights up, the positive test probe (+) is connected to

the positive terminal of the object under test.

If the minus sign lights up, the negative test probe (−) is connected to

the negative terminal of the object under test.

The voltage level is indicated by LEDs: ± 12, 24, 36, 50, 120, 400, and 690.

For voltages over 12 V the voltage tester starts automatically.
When the tested circuit has alternating current (AC), the AC voltage
indicator lights up.
The voltage level is indicated by LEDs: ± 12, 24, 36, 50, 120, and 400.
Note: If the voltage under test is less than 5 V, the tester may not detect it.
