Procedure
NOTE:
A diagnostic tachometer should be used
for this procedure.
1) Start the engine and allow it to warm
up fully in Neutral until it is running
smoothly.
If the outboard is mounted on a boat,
be sure the boat is tightly moored.
2) Adjust the throttle stop-screw to set
the idling speed to specification (see
"SPECIFICATIONS") by turning the
stop-screw clockwise to increase the
idling speed, and turning it counter-
clockwise to decrease the idling
speed.
NOTE:
Correct idling-speed adjustment is only
possible if the engine is fully warmed-up.
If not warmed up fully, the speed setting
will tend to be too high.
If you have difficulty obtaining the speci-
fied idle, consult a Yamaha dealer or
other qualified mechanic.

CHECKING WATER TRAP UNDER
ENGINE OIL TANK
There is a trap at the bottom of the engine
oil tank. If water or foreign matter is visi-
ble in this trap, consult a Yamaha dealer.
