    Before installing the device, please follow strictly all safety procedures described in the installation instructions supplied with the product. Wieland will not be liable for any damages to property or personal injuries resulting from the installation or overall use of the device. Do not attempt to ma- nipulate the product in any way if unsure of the steps described there.

    Configuration and setup CONFIGURATION AND SETUP Device-specific configurations can be carried out via Wieland's user-friendly web interface. Configuring through Web/CLI interface Every wienet SDS Industrial Serial Device Server is equipped with a built-in web server in the firm- ware. Therefore, the device can be accessed by using a web browser for configuration by entering the device's IP address (default IP address is 10.0.50.100) in the URL field of your web browser.

It is the most rec- ommended and the most common method used for wienet SDS Serial Device Server Series. Go to its corresponding section for a detailed explanation.   • Page 13 You can simply check the DHCP (Obtain an IP Automatically) checkbox in the Network Set- ting dialog using Wieland's wienet Manager, a device management utility, and then restart the de- vice. Once restarted, the IP address will be configured automatically.

    ◦ Bootloader Version is the version of the program that loads the operating system of the de- vice. • Network Information shows information about the wired network interface on the device. ◦ LAN: This will display the current MAC Address, and IP Address of the Ethernet interface.   • Page 17 (network or COM), there will be one page for each COM within Step 5/6. wienet SDS series supports three different Link Modes which are TCP Server, TCP Client, and UDP. The Link Mode describes the role of wienet SDS and the connection between wienet SDS device and other remote devices in the network that would like to communicate with serial devices on wienet SDS's COM port(s).
  • Page 18 When VirtualCOM is chosen in the application submenu, the serial device server will be seen as an extension of the COM peripherals on your computer. The user can click to download Wieland's wie- net Manager, a device management utility, and install Serial/IP utility from the provided link.

    5.9.3 Firmware upgrade Updated firmware for wienet SDS is provided by Wieland Electric from time to time to fix bugs and optimize performance. It is very important that the device must NOT be turned off or powered off during the firmware upgrade, (please be patient as this whole process might take up to 5 minutes).

    Please contact Wieland authorized distributors for more information on this subject. To restore the backup configuration, click the Browse button under the Restore Configuration part as shown in Figure 31 to locate the backup configuration file on user's computer.
