If you are re-installing the printer driver, first follow the uninstall procedures on
page 43 to remove the existing printer driver before you re-install.
T T o o i i n n s s t t a a l l l l t t h h e e p p r r i i n n t t e e r r d d r r i i v v e e r r i i n n W W i i n n d d o o w w s s : :
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Make sure the cable between the printer and computer (USB or parallel) is
securely connected.
3. Turn the computer on, and close any open software applications. Insert the
S500 Setup Software & User's Guide CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. The
setup program should run automatically.
4. If the setup program does not run automatically, click S S t t a a r r t t , then R R u u n n , then
type x x : : \ \ m m s s e e t t u u p p . . e e x x e e (where x x is the CD-ROM drive).
5. Read the Welcome screen, then click N N e e x x t t . Read the License Agreement,
then click Y Y e e s s . When the main menu appears, click I I n n s s t t a a l l l l S S o o f f t t w w a a r r e e .
6. If a message prompts you to restart Windows, remove the CD-ROM, then
click O O K K . After the computer restarts, re-insert the CD-ROM and continue.
7. Click S S t t a a r r t t . (If the Printer Driver button is not red, select P P r r i i n n t t e e r r D D r r i i v v e e r r , then
click S S t t a a r r t t .) The printer driver will start loading automatically.
8. TURN THE PRINTER ON so the printer port can be automatically detected. The
software will begin identifying the printer port being used.
For Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000, refer to the README.TXT file
on the S500 Setup Software & User's Guide CD-ROM.
If the printer was on when the setup program started, the Add
New Hardware Wizard will appear. Do NOT use the wizard—
click C C a a n n c c e e l l to close the window and continue.
