ELECTRONIC UPGRADE KIT
The GBC Engineering Team has released an Electronic Upgrade Kit part number 005187 that
must be installed on all Orca 64TH's that experience problems related to the Main P.C. Board,
Motor Driver P.C. Board, and Vacuum Fan Driver P.C. Board. This Electrical Upgrade Kit is
replacing the Vacuum Driver P.C. Board with its own Power Supply, and protecting the Motor
Driver P.C. Board by way of Dynamic Brake and a separate Power supply. The Main P.C. Board
has been modified to work this Kit only. This kit will alleviate problems caused by static but will
not remove the static from the machine. There are two things to make sure to prevent the static
from building in the machine
1. Ground the unit itself thoroughly from shafts to the frame, left frame to the right frame,
electrical panels to the frame, and input power ground to the frame.
2. Check the ground quality of the facility by checking voltage difference between the power
ground (Green wire coming from the power source) to a nearby water pipe or a solid metal
beam that goes well below the ground to the soil. It shouldn't be more than a couple of volts
difference in AC.
When you order the Electrical Upgrade Kit, you will receive all necessary electrical components
and installation instructions. If you do not receive installation instruction, refer to this TSSB.
• Vacuum Fan Driver Board P/N# 706011195 is not used, and no longer available.
• Main Motor Driver Board P/N# 706011193 is not used, and no longer available. It has been
replaced by P/N# 638900353.
• Main P.C. Board P/N# 706011740 is not used, and no longer available. It has been replaced
by P/N# 001829.
• NOTE: The new Main P.C. Board P/N# 001829 and the new Main Motor Driver
Board P/N# 638900353 can only be used with the Electronic Upgrade Kit. If you
install the new Main P.C. Board and the new Main Motor Driver Board without
having the Upgrade Kit installed, it will not work.
• This is not a mandatory Upgrade Kit due to the fact that there are machines that have not
experienced any board failures. Contact your Regional Manager to determine if the
customer should be charged, depending on the amount of Board failures on each individual
machine.
After you have installed the Electronic Upgrade Kit, if the Main P.C. Board or the Main Motor
Driver Board becomes defective, you can replace the individual boards. The part number for the
Main P.C. Board is 001829. Part number for the Main Motor Driver Board is 638900353.
