It provides technical support information, perfor- mance specifications, installation instructions, and a trou- bleshooting section.     The disc drive must receive ade- quate cooling (refer to “Providing adequate cooling”) and it must be sufficiently grounded and shielded from emis- sions. The Barracuda 4FC Product Manual (part number 83329080) contains guidelines for a properly designed enclosure.

A Installing the ST15150FC drive To install a ST15150FC drive, simply plug the drive directly into your system’s Fibre Channel backpanel 40- pin single connector attachment (FC-SCA). There are no jumpers or terminators on the drive, and power is supplied through the connector.

Figure 2 shows one design approach with one or more fans used to generate air flow. The air-flow pattern can be created by the fans either pushing or drawing air.

A Inserting the drive Most systems provide a way to insert the drive using a carrier or tray which allows the drive to be hot-plugged into the system’s Fibre Channel 40-pin single connector attachment (FC-SCA). Refer to your system documenta- tion about the method they provide and follow their instructions.
