Before use
This AC Adapter can be used to charge and operate Reader All
Editions™, PRS-700, PRS-505 and PRS-500*. *See the support
website for the latest information on compatibility.
Before using the AC adapter, please read this manual thoroughly and
retain it for future reference. See also the manuals provided with the
Reader.
How to use

Connect the AC adapter to the DC IN jack of the Reader.

Connect to an AC outlet using the power cord.
The indicator on the Reader lights up in red while charging, and goes
off when charging is completed.

Charging time varies depending on the model of the Reader. For
details, see "Charging the Reader" or "Turning on (Sony) Reader" in
the User's Guide of the Reader (PRS-Series).
Notes
• Do not use an AC adapter other than this one with the Reader.
• Connect the AC adapter to an easily accessible AC outlet. Should you
notice an abnormality in the AC adapter, disconnect it from the AC outlet.

Notes on use
• Do not place the unit in locations that are:
– Extremely hot or cold
– Dusty or dirty
– Very humid
– Vibrating
– Strong magnetic fields
– Sandy
– Exposed to direct sunlight
• Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.
• Disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet when not in use for a long
time. To disconnect the power cord, pull it out by the plug. Never pull the
cord itself.
• Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of
this unit. If this happens, a short circuit may occur and the unit may be
damaged.
• Do not operate the unit with a damaged cord or if the unit itself has been
dropped or damaged.
• Always keep the metal contacts clean.
• Do not disassemble or convert the unit.
• While the unit is in use, it gets warm. This is normal.
• Keep the unit away from TV or AM receivers, as it may disturb reception.
On cleaning
Clean the unit with a soft dry cloth, or a soft cloth lightly moistened with a
mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol or
benzine, which may damage the finish.
