REMOVING / CLEANING THE IFD
MICRO-FILTER (ALL MODELS)
®
CAUTION: Turn OFF and unplug the air purifier
To remove the ifD
Micro-filter:
®
• Push the Filter Release button and then gently lift the
filter assembly (Fig. 10a & 10b). The filter assembly will
only release if the button is pushed.
• Remove the pre-filter press the top tab to the relase the
pre-filter (Fig. 14).
• With one hand, hold the air purifier frame and use other
hand to grasp ifD
filter and pull out (Fig. 14b).

To clean the ifD
Micro-filter:
®
The ifD
filter should be cleaned approximately every 3 months.
®
After removing the ifD
®
filter from the air purifier, follow the steps below to
clean the ifD
®
filter.
• VACUUM: (Optional) After removing the ifD
gently run a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle or brush attachment along the filter
to pick-up tiny particles (Fig. 11). Repeat on both sides.
WASHING:
If you choose not to vacuum the filter first, please follow the steps below to wash
the ifD

• Remove the ifD
Micro-filter from the unit.
®
• You can simply rinse the ifD
Micro-filter under the faucet, or for more thorough
®
cleaning, fill the sink with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild dish
soap (Fig. 12).
• Gently swish the filter in the soap solution to clean.
• Soak the filter for 2-3 minutes. Do not leave for an extended period of time.
• Rinse the filter with clean tap water.
DRYING:
• Shake the filter to remove any excess water.
• Place the filter with the honeycomb side down on a plush towel (Fig. 13).
• Note that the filter may still be discolored even after washing.
This is acceptable and will not affect performance.
• Allow the ifD
Micro-filter to dry for a few hours or overnight.
®
• When the ifD
Micro-filter is completely dry, place back into the air purifier.
®
Make sure you insert the filter according to the directional arrows on the filter.
To place the ifD
filter back into the housing, align the filter assemby with the
®
opening at top of unit and insert. Press until it is flush and you hear an audible
"click".
CAUTION:
• Never place a wet ifD
Micro-filter in your air purifier.
®
• The ifD
Mirco-filter is NOT dishwasher safe. Do not place the ifD
®
in a dishwasher or subject it to other extreme hot water conditions.
• Do not use any solvents, strong cleaning agents or flammable liquids to clean
the ifD
Micro-filter.
®

REMOVING/CLEANING THE WASHABLE PRE-FILTER (ALL MODELS)
To remove the pre-filter:
• Press the top tab to release the pre-filter from the filter
assembly (Fig. 14).
• Hold the frame steady from the side while pushing in the
center of each pre-filter from the back side of the frame
(Fig.15).
• Separate the pre-filter from the frame and you can then
pull it completely away from the frame (it will snap out).
• If using the Odor-Lock
adsorbing pre-filter, it is recommended that you store the original washable
TM
pre-filter in the event that you decide to use it in the future.
To clean the pre-filter:
The particle pre-filter helps pick-up large airborne particles that enter the filter.
This pre-filter can be periodically removed and shaken or vacuumed clean.
Alternatively, it can be rinsed by hand under warm water to clean (Fig. 16).
Let the pre-filter dry completely before inserting it back into the unit.
INSTALLING THE ODOR-LOCK
PRE-FILTER(S) (HFD-014, HD010WHS, HD010LHS, HD010RHS ONLY)
• To replace washable pre-filters with the Odor-Lock
filters, remove the standard washable pre-filter assembly
by pushing on the top tab (Fig.17).
• To insert the Odor-Lock
pre-filters into the pre-filter
frame, line the tabs on the pre-filter up with the frame
notches and snap into place (Fig.18).
• Install the Odor-Lock
filter assembly by inserting the
lower tab of the pre-filter frame into the filter assembly
until you hear a "click" (Fig. 19.
• Align the complete filter assembly with the opening in
the unit and insert back into the unit (Fig. 20).
NOTE: The Odor-Lock
filters are not washable.
NOTE: If Odor-Lock
is used in lieu of the permanent
TM
washable pre-filter, it will need to be replaced approximately
every 3 months and should be installed the same location
after the washable pre-filter is removed.
