ENHANCED ODOR REDUCTION (HFD-014, HD010WHS, HD010LHS, HD010RHS ONLY)
The washable pre-filter came installed in your air purifier and removes larger particles from the air that
passes through the filter. You may use this washable pre-filter, or you have the choice to use the optional
Odor-Lock™ Pre-filter (in HFD-014, HD10WHS, HD010LHS, HD010RHS ONLY). In addition to capturing
larger particles, the Odor-Lock™ Pre-filter will also trap common household odors and gases. If you
choose to use the Odor-Lock™ Pre-filter, you must remove the installed washable pre-filter then insert the
Odor-Lock™ Pre-filter. (See "Installing The Odor-Lock
NOTE: Please only use one pre-filter in your air cleaner at a time. You will need to choose whether you
want to use the permanent washable pre-filter or the replaceable Odor-Lock™ Pre-filter.
Both are included with your air cleaner at the time of purchase (in HFD-014, HD10WHS, HD010LHS,
HD010RHS ONLY).
SET-UP (ALL MODELS)
• Select a firm, level and flat location. For best airflow, locate the unit at least 6 inches (15.2 cm) from
any wall or furniture.
• When operating, large volumes of air are drawn toward the air cleaner. Surrounding areas should be
cleaned and/or vacuumed frequently to prevent build-up of dust and other contaminants. This may also
help prolong the life of the filter. If the unit is placed on a light colored carpet, a small mat or rug should
be used underneath to prevent staining. This is especially important in homes with contamination from
smoking or fireplaces.
OPERATION (HFD-010, HD010, HFD-013 and HFD-014 SERIES)
• Ensure the unit is in the OFF (O) position and is plugged into
a working electrical outlet.
• Rotate the control knob to the desired speed level: High ( ) or
Low ( ) (Fig. 5).
• The indicator light will illuminate when the power is on.
• Turn the control knob to the Off (O) position to turn off the
air purifier.

OPERATION (HFD-015, HFD-110 and HD110)
• Press the Power ( ) button once. The unit will start at the
Medium Power level and remain on this setting until another
cleaning level is chosen (Fig. 6).
• Select a power level by pressing one of the three power level
buttons: High ( ), Medium ( ) or Low ( ) (Fig. 7). The indicator
light above the selected button will illuminate.
• Press the Power button again to turn off the air purifier.
Timer Operation
• Press the Timer (
) button if you would like your air cleaner to
run and then automatically shut-off after a certain amount of time
(choose from between 4, 8 or 12 hours). This is convenient if
you would like your air cleaner to run during the night but then
shut-off automatically in the morning (choose the 8 hour setting).
• The timer can be turned off by repeatedly pressing the Timer
(
) button until all of the timer indicator lights go out.
NOTE: Removing the ifD
Micro-filter assembly or turning the
®
unit off will cancel the Timer function.
FILTER CLEAN INDICATORS AND FILTER RESET (HFD-110, HFD-015 and HF110)
Check Filter Indicator - When it is time to check and clean the filters, an indicator light will illuminate
Fig. 9 (HFD-015, HFD-110 and HD110 Only). When this light comes on, you will need to clean the
primary ifD
filter and clean or replace the pre-filter. (See Filter Cleaning instructions on page 6). It is
®
recommended that you periodically check the filters.
To Reset Electronic Filter Check - After the ifD
been cleaned/replaced and re-installed in the unit, plug the unit into the power outlet
with the unit still in POWER OFF mode, press and hold the CHECK FILTERS RESET
button until the LED will no longer be illuminated.
The cleaning intervals are intended as guidelines only. Performance of any filter
media is dependent upon the concentration of contaminants going through the
system. High concentrations of contaminants such as dust, pet dander and smoke
particles will reduce the useful performance of the filter and they may need to be
cleaned more frequently.
