IR remote control
a) General battery instructions
• Batteries should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being swallowed by children or
domestic animals. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable protective
gloves.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fi re. There is a risk of
explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; there is a risk of explosion!
b) Inserting the Battery, Replacing the Battery
• The battery (1x CR2025) is normally already inserted at the time of delivery. Pull out the transparent plastic
protective strips; the IR remote control is now ready for operation.
• To replace the batteries, press the retaining clip of the battery holder together and pull the battery holder
out of the IR remote control.
Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the new batteries (pay attention to plus + and minus -).
The positive terminal of the battery points towards the bottom side of the IR remote control.
c) Operation
Align the small transparent transmission diode at the front border of the IR remote control directly with the
round reception diode in the DVB-T stick. IR reception may not always be possible, depending on the posi-
tion of the DVB-T stick on your computer (e.g., on the rear side of the computer). If necessary, use a USB
extension cable to ensure that the DVB-T stick can be placed appropriately.
Connection and software installation
• Switch your computer on and wait until the operating system is completely booted (at least Windows XP
recommended).
• Connect the DVB-T stick either with the telescopic antenna provided or alternatively with the magnet
antenna (in the latter case, the antenna adapter provided must be inserted between the DVB-T stick and
antenna).
• Connect the DVB-T stick to a USB port on your computer, which can deliver a current of 500 mA.
If you use the telescopic antenna, pull it out to its full length and position it vertically in the upward direction.
If you use the stand antenna, select a suitable location e.g., in the vicinity of a window. Thanks to the
Version 10/12
magnetic foot, the stand antenna can also be mounted on e.g., suitable metallic surfaces.
• Windows detects new hardware after the DVB-T stick is connected.
Stop the search for the driver and insert the CD provided into an appropriate drive on your computer.
If your computer does not have a CD-/DVD drive, copy all the CD data onto a USB stick on
another computer, and use it for installation.
If the installation program does not start automatically, open the CD main directory and start the "TV_Stick.
exe" program.
To install the driver, click on "Install driver" and follow all the software instructions.
The software must be installed after the driver has been installed. Click on "Install software". Then select
the desired language for the setup fi rst.
You must then input a username (random) and the licence key (Serial No.). The latter is printed on the CD
cover.
With newer versions of the CD, this procedure might be different.
• After completing driver and software installation, start the software. A new icon was stored on the desktop
for this (on the date these operating instructions were created: "Total Media 3.5").
• First, carry out a station search run. To do this, click on "Settings" and "TV". The wizard for setting up the
TV signal then starts automatically. Follow all of the instructions.
If no channel is found, ensure that the telescopic antenna is stretched fully and that it is vertical.
If necessary, use the stand antenna and place it near a window.
The antenna adapter provided can be connected not just to the stand antenna but also to other
DVB-T antennae, e.g. to an active outdoor antenna.
Then restart the channel search run.
• Detailed operating instructions on the "Total Media" software are available in the "Users Guide" directory. It
is in "PDF" format. To view the fi le, you need e.g. "Acrobat Reader", which you can download free of charge
