FIELD INSTILLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR STYLE 3579

Kits Contents:

#160 (X2): 1/4"-20x1.5" Stainless steel socket head cap screw
#202 (X1): 1/2"-20 Stainless steel plug
#203 (X1): Stop bracket assembly
#206 (X1): 1/2"-20x1/2"Stainless steel hex head cap screw

Disassembly:

1. Move the elevation joint to a position a few degrees off vertical
2. Remove the plug (#202) from the uppermost hole on the inlet elbow (#2) using a ½" socket or wrench.
Refer to Figure 1.
3. Remove the permanent stop (#127) and lock washer (#170) from the middle hole on the inlet elbow
using a ¾" socket or wrench. Refer to Figure 1.
4. Inspect the area around the hole from which the permanent stop was just removed for any visible cracks or
damage. If cracks or damage are present it is recommended that the unit be returned to Akron Brass for repair.
5. If monitor looks acceptable after step 4, rotate elevation joint so that it is at 45° from vertical.
6. Proceed to remove both cap screws (#161) holding the elevation gear cover(#7) to the inlet elbow
casting, using a 3/16" Allen wrench.
