File and le guiding
Use a special round file (optional accessory) for
sa w c h ains to s h arpen t h e c h ain. Normal roun d
files are not suitable.
Diameter of the round file for each saw chain is as
f ollo w s :
Chain blade 0P : 4. mm ( /1 )
Chain blade 1P : 4.0 mm ( / 2 )
The file should only engage the cutter on the for-
ward stroke. Lift the file off the cutter on the return
stroke.
Sharpen the shortest cutter first. Then the length
o f t h is s h ortest c utter be c omes t h e stan d ar d f or all
ot h er c utters on t h e sa w c h ain.
Guide the file as shown in the figure.
Fig.32: 1. F ile 2. S a w c h ain
The file can be guided more easily if a file holder
(optional accessory) is employed. The file holder has
markings f or th e c orrec t sh arpening angle of 30° ( align
th e markings parallel to th e saw c h ain) and limits th e
depth of penetration (to 4/ of the file diameter).
