4.6.1 Remote I/O Testing
The interface for remote I/O Testing is provided by two 4-position screwless, spring loaded
terminal blocks, as shown in Figure 4-7. These terminal blocks can be used with 20-26 AWG wire
and provide a direct connection to the Iridium Edge Pro configurable I/O pins when switches SW1,
SW7, SW5, and SW11 are set to REMOTE. When the I/Os set to REMOTE, the monitoring LED
is disconnected from the I/O line.
The Iridium Edge Pro IO_1 and IO_2 connect to the switch block labelled as INPUTS, reference
designator J4 on the TIC, while the IO_3 and IO_4 I/Os connect to the switch block labelled as
INPUTS/OUTPUTS, reference designator J6.
When testing Remote I/Os, IO_RET1 and IO_RET2 on the Iridium Edge Pro can optionally be
connected and tested. IO_RET_1 and IO_RET2 connect to a common IO_RET signal on the TIC.
For normal operation, The IO_RET-GND LINK (JP1 on the TIC) should be populated. The jumper
is provided so that it can be removed and replaced with a current meter to measure current on the
IO_RET path to the Iridium Edge Pro.
4.6.1 Local I/O Testing
The Iridium Edge Pro's I/Os can be tested directly using the TIC when I/O is set to LOCAL. In this
case, the yellow LED is on when the I/O line is high and off when floating or ground.
The Iridium Edge Pro device's I/Os are configured by the application installed on the
terminal. The configuration on the TIC card should match the configuration on the Iridium
Edge Pro. By default, the Iridium Edge Pro's I/Os default as the digital inputs.
