3 Setting up the Hardware

This section describes how to setup the Iridium Edge Pro development kit. Once the setup is
complete, Iridium Edge Pro development kit can be used with the software tools as described in
the Iridium Edge Pro Getting Started Guide [Reference 3].
Most of the setup procedures relate to cable connections to the Test Interface Card. Key ports on
the Test Interface Card are shown in in Figure 3-2.

Connecting the TIC to the Iridium Edge Pro

A 10-Meter Mating Cable and a 1-Meter Mating cable are provided in the kit to connect the TIC to
the Iridium Edge Pro.
The 1-Meter Mating Cable is recommended for initial setup and for development since its usage
allow for USB connectivity. Development activities will typically require a USB connection to serve
as the Iridium Edge Pro device's default debug Console port. However, the USB interface does
not work reliably over cables longer than 1-2 meters. But this will not be an issue during
development since the Iridium Edge Pro device will be close to the TIC as per Figure 3-2.
The 10-Meter Mating Cable is provided to support field testing and development where the Iridium
Edge Pro is located at a distance from the TIC. This configuration is only required once the Iridium
Controlled for export under the EAR. See front cover for use and disclosure statement.
