A Micro USB Type AB connector (reference designator J5 on the TIC) provides a direct connection
to the Iridium Edge Pro USB signals. The USB connector is shown in Figure 4-3.

RS-232 Interface

The RS-232 interface is shown in Figure 4-4.
The RS-232 interface has a female DB9 cable (labelled as RS232 on the TIC) which provides a
direct connection to the Iridium Edge Pro device's RS-232 signals.
The RS-232 Interface also provides LEDs on both the transmit and receive data lines to indicate
RS-232 presence and activity. The activity LED is by the output from the RS-232 receiver (MAX
3181EEUK+T) and the presence LED is driven by the /INVALID output of the same RS232
receiver.
When an RS-232 signal is not valid, the presence LED for is red; otherwise, the LED is green
when a valid signal is present. When communications are occurring on either the transmit or
receive data, the appropriate LEDs blink green momentarily.
By default, the Iridium Edge Pro device's RS-232 port is set to "auto detect". With auto detect a
valid RS-232 receive input is required before the RS-232 transmitter is activated. The presence
LED can be used to show if a valid RS-232 signal is present.
Controlled for export under the EAR. See front cover for use and disclosure statement.
