• Check the device for signs of wear and tear or damage. If there are such signs of wear and tear
or damage or if the device was used improperly, it must be returned to the manufacturer or
retailer before further use.
• Switch the device off immediately if it is faulty or not working properly.
• Never attempt to open and/or repair the device yourself. Repairs may only be carried out by Cus-
tomer Service. Failure to comply with this instruction will void the warranty.
• The manufacturer is not liable for damage resulting from improper or careless use.
Risk of fire
WARNING
There is a risk of fire if the device is used improperly or these instructions for use are ignored.
The device should therefore:
• Never be used underneath a cover, such as blanket, pillow, etc.
• Never be used near petrol or other highly flammable substances.
Handling
CAUTION
The device must be switched off and disconnected after every use and before cleaning.
Battery Handling Safety Precautions
• Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
• Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries. Reversed batteries may cause
damage to the device.
• Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc or rechargeable
batteries) or old batteries with fresh ones. Always replace batteries as a simultaneous set.
• If the batteries in the device are depleted or the device will not be used for a long period of time,
remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
• Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture
(follow battery manufacturer's directions.)
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire, batteries may explode or leak.
• Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
• Remove discharged batteries from the product and dispose/recycle in compliance with all appli-
cable laws.
• Keep batteries away from children and pets. Batteries may be harmful if swallowed. Should a
child or pet swallow a battery, seek medical assistance immediately
• If your skin or eyes come into contact with battery fluid, rinse the affected areas with water and
seek medical assistance.

3. Package Contents

Check that the exterior of the delivery cardboard packaging is intact and make sure that all components
are present. Before use, ensure that the device and accessories show no visible damage and all packaging
material has been removed. If you have any doubts, do not use the device and contact your retailer or the
specified Customer Service address.

4. Getting to know your device

The Beurer EMS circulation stimulator Vital Legs is an electrostimulation device. The EMS circulation stimu-
lator causes electrical stimulation of the muscle tissue (EMS) in the foot and lower leg area.
How does electrostimulation work?
The principle of electrostimulation devices is based on the imitation of impulses in our bodies that are trans-
ferred to nerve and muscle fibers with electrodes via our skin. The electrical impulses are safe and virtually
painless. You may merely notice a slight tingling or vibrating sensation. The electrical impulses that are sent
