P-Link 0.1
2.3 Initial Use
This section covers everything you need to know to set up your P-Link 0.1. It will explain the package contents and
the system requirements. We will also describe how to connect the P-Link 0.1 and its functions, such as network
encryption.
2.3.1 Package contents
Please ensure that the delivery is complete before beginning with the installation of your P-Link 0.1. The kit consists
in:
• 2 x P-Link 0.1 adapters;
• 2 x network cables;
• 1 x quick guide;
• 1 x warranty paper.
2.3.2 System requirements
The P-Link 0.1 do not have any particular requirement. It can work with any computer or device (with a operating
system with network support). The only note is that your computer or other device must feature a network adapter
with a network port.
2.3.3 Connecting the P-Link 0.1
This section describes how to connect your P-Link 0.1 to a computer or other network device. Please perform the
following steps in order to connect the device:
1. Use the included network cable to connect the P-Link 0.1 to the network port of your running computer or other
network device
2. Plug the P-Link 0.1 into a free electrical outlet
NOTE
If possible, do not plug the adapter into a power strip. This may impair the transmission of the
adapter signals. A free wall outlet is preferable.
3. Once you have connected at least two P-Link 0.1 adapters as described above, your P-Link 0.1 network has
been set up. To secure your P-Link 0.1 network, continue with the configuration as described in section 2.4.1.
2.4 Advanced Use
Data communication via the household power grid is encrypted to ensure the privacy of your P-Link 0.1 network.
The following section describes data encryption options by using the encryption button on the powerline adapters.
In P-Link 0.1 networks, data encryption is as simple as touching a button, since all corresponding P-Link 0.1 devices
are equipped with an encryption button.
2.4.1 Network encryption
To encrypt a P-Link 0.1 network, in which all associated devices are equipped with an encryption button, simply
press the encryption button that is located on the device. Pressing this button will encrypt your P-Link 0.1 network
with a randomly generated password.
NOTE
Adapters cannot be configured while in Standby mode. All adapters are configurated with the same factory
default password. This is done mainly because the adding of a new adapter in an existing network is
automatic (by just connecting the adapter to the power grid) without the need to press the encryption
button in all the existing adapters on your network. Please note that the pressing of the encryption button
will cause the generation of a new random password and the reset of the factory password.
The following section contains exact instructions on the basis of possible network scenarios:
