    3.1 Introduction Introduction The Amersham ImageQuant 800 is an imaging instrument designed to detect and quantify proteins, DNA, and other biological samples, such as bacterial colonies. A cooled 8.3 megapixel CCD camera is used to capture high resolution digital images of electrophoretically separated protein and DNA bands in gels or membranes obtained through blotting methods.
