1. Overview of COPT

This section describes overview of COPT and information about COPT-related products, and how to
purchase Enable key and obtain code word.
1.1

What is COPT (Capacity Optimization)?

The number of CPU cores mounted on one CPU socket increases according to evolution of CPU. On
the other hand, the number of CPU sockets to be mounted on server is determined by required memory
capacity or required I/O slots regardless of CPU resources actually needed.
Using the Capacity Optimization (COPT) feature, the server is shipped with only the CPU cores
required for system enabled. If the CPU resources become insufficient, the CPU cores in CPU socket
can be enabled by purchasing 1-Core Enable Key separately.
