Hardware Installation

Overview

This chapter provides you with instructions on how to setup the hardware portion of the StorTrends 1108. This
manual assumes that you are familiar with the basic installation of the CPU and memory module.

Step 1 Unpack and Inspect the Contents

When working inside the chassis, unplug both power cables.
When installing this unit, both power outlets that supply
power to the two power supplies must be easily accessible.
Access to these outlets must not be blocked or obstructed in

Power On
Inspect the cardboard carton for obvious damage. If damaged, call 770-246-8600. Leave it
in its original packing.
Perform all unpacking and installation procedures on a ground-connected anti-static mat.
Wear an anti-static wristband grounded at the same point as the anti-static mat or use a sheet
of conductive aluminum foil grounded through a 1-megohm resistor instead of the anti-static
mat.
Similarly, a strip of conductive aluminum foil wrapped around the wrist and grounded
through a 1 megohm resistor serves the same purpose as the wristband.
