EXCALIBUR 168
Description Menu
The Description menu function brings up a dialog box
prompting the user to enter a drawing description. The
description is displayed in the Excalibur Window caption bar
when this map is called up.
If the user attempts to Exit Excalibur CAD or to Save a map
without first entering a description via this menu, a warning
message is displayed prompting the user to enter a Description
(see page 4-13, Exiting Excalibur CAD).

EXCALIBUR CAD WINDOW BUTTONS

At the bottom of the Excalibur CAD window screen are
several buttons and window boxes, as illustrated at the bottom
of this page.
There are four informational windows above the buttons.
The first two windows display the number of graphical
objects ("Objects") in the current map and the number of
icons ("Icons") in the current map.
The third window displays the number of points ("Points") in
a polyline or polygon.
The fourth window shows either the length ("Length") of a
line segment, the angle an object is being rotated
("Rotate"), or the scaling factor ("X Scale" and "YScale")
of an object being rescaled, depending on the operation
being performed.
The 12 buttons at the bottom left are shortcuts to some of the
commonly used CAD menu functions. They are equivalent to
selecting that function from the Excalibur CAD menus.
The buttons, as displayed from left to right, are:
Line - allows user to draw a line.
Polyline - allows user to draw a series of connected lines as
one graphic object.
Box - allows user to draw a box.
Polygon - allows user to draw a polygon.
Ellipse - allows user to draw an ellipse.
Radius Arc - allows user to draw a radius arc.
End Point Arc - allows user to draw an end point arc.
T (Text) - allows user to place or edit text.
Copy - allows user to copy a selected object.
Rotate - allows user to rotate a selected object.
To Front (upper button) - allows user to move a selected
object to the front (see page 4-12).
To Back (lower button) - allows user to move a selected
object to the back (see page 4-12).
The windows at the right of these buttons are informational.
The first three windows to the right of the buttons display the
current drawing:
Line style and color.
Object fill pattern and color.
Text font and size.
The next window is the coordinates box which displays the
current cursor position, relative to the origin, in the selected
units. When an object is being drawn or edited, the
coordinates box displays the delta, or distance moved from the
starting point. For example, when drawing a box, the
coordinate window displays the size of the box, relative to the
starting point selected.
The four arrow buttons at the right end of the button bar allow
the user to pan the image left, right, up, or down. Icons placed
on the image do not move when the pan buttons are used.
