The Excalibur Graphical System Manager provides a user- friendly operator interface for monitoring activity and alarms at security areas under surveillance of American Dynamics AD168 Matrix Switcher / Controller system. The Excalibur system allows the user to define surveillance areas to be observed and to provide user-selected icons or symbols representing the key security resources at the surveillance area.
This section of the manual describes the installation procedures for the American Dynamics Excalibur Graphical System Manager. Each Excalibur workstation RS-232 port is connected to a single Switching System Controller RS-232 port using a separate cable. Refer to the RS-232 port connector pin definitions and setup instructions in the AD168 Switcher / Controller System Installation Manual. EXCALIBUR 168...
Excalibur does not include any setup functions for video capture boards. Note: Please call the American Dynamics Technical Support Center, 1-800-442-2225, for a list of compatible cards or for additional information on the use of specific video capture boards.
The following sections of this manual provide the setup procedures using the Excalibur System Setup, Operators, CAD, and Icon Setup programs. Refer to the Excalibur 168 Operating Instructions Manual, 8000-1743-01, for the operating procedures of the Excalibur and Excalibur Log Reports programs.

This section of the manual describes the Excalibur System Setup program operating procedures. Excalibur System Setup is the program that defines system data used by Excalibur and its related modules. This includes defining directories for data and program files, switcher port setup, operators and passwords, video setup, data logging, and map sequences.
This error message may be displayed if the data directory has been changed to a directory that does not contain valid Excalibur data files. Before re-creating maps and data files, ensure that the data directory is set properly (page 2-3). EXCALIBUR 168...

EXCALIBUR 168 SYSTEM SETUP MENUS Set Directory Menu The System Setup program defines the directories that contain the program files and the data files for all other Excalibur functions. The data file directory must be defined before other data is entered by any setup functions, and before any map images are created and saved by the Excalibur CAD program.

EXCALIBUR 168 Alarm Module Port Setup To set up an alarm interface module port, select the “Select Module” check box from the Setup Ports/Modules dialog box, page 2-4. Any RS-232 interface modules currently in the program file directory are displayed in the Module list box.

The operator can back up any .EXO log file onto a single floppy disc, either 1.2MB or 1.4MB, using the Excalibur Log Reports program (see the Excalibur 168 Operating Instructions manual, PN 8000-1743-01). EXCALIBUR 168 EXCALIBUR SYSTEM SETUP Video Menu If the Excalibur system PC has a video display capture card installed (see page 1-3), the Video menu is available in the Excalibur System Setup menu bar. If a video capture card is not installed in the PC, this menu and associated functions are not available.

This section of the manual describes the Excalibur Operators program operating procedures. Excalibur CAD program allows a supervisor to add, change, or delete operators as in the System Setup program, Section 2, but denies access to other Excalibur setup data such as directories, map sequences, port configurations, and logging data.

This section of the manual describes the Excalibur CAD program operating procedures. Excalibur CAD is a drawing program used to create the background maps and place the icons used by Excalibur. The maps must be drawn and icons placed by the Excalibur CAD program before the Excalibur Icon Setup program (Section 5) is run.

EXCALIBUR 168 Drawing Arcs There are two methods of drawing Arcs. Radius Arc allows the user to define a center point, a radius, and the end points of the arc. End Points Arc allows the user to define one endpoint, and drag the arc to the other endpoint.

EXCALIBUR 168 Fill Menu The Fill menu allows the user to select the current fill pattern for drawing objects (ellipses, boxes, and polygons) and for editing existing objects. When “Fill” is selected, a Fill Style dialog box is displayed showing examples of the fill patterns.

This section of the manual describes the Excalibur Icon Setup program operating procedures. The Excalibur Icon Setup program provides user setup for the American Dynamics alarm interface module and the icons that reference alarms and switcher actions. This program allows the attributes for each icon to be defined, such as a specific camera icon calling a specified surveillance camera.
For alarm conditions, the local (second) switcher can be defined to follow the mode set for the remote (first) switcher. See “Alarm Setup” on page 5-3 for more information on calling cameras under alarm conditions. EXCALIBUR 168...

EXCALIBUR 168 Gate Class Gate Class icons are used to open or close gates or overhead doors at the surveillance site. The gate is controlled by Receiver auxiliary relays, and these relays MUST be set for momentary contacts. The relays are pulsed for 1 second.

EXCALIBUR 168 Video ID Class The video ID icon is used to control a split screen or two- window video ID system. One side views the person and the other looks at his ID badge. A mirror or camera may be moved up or down to view the person.

EXCALIBUR 168 Light Class The light control icon is used to turn on or turn off lights. It requires a Receiver latching relay for control of the light. The Light Class Icon Setup dialog box has two sections. Type a light icon Description in the text entry box at the top.
