EXCALIBUR SE

AD Keyboard

The "AD Keyboard" menu function brings up a keyboard
dialog box that operates like an American Dynamics model
2078 keyboard. This on-screen keyboard may be used in the
same manner as the AD keyboard to control the Matrix
Switching System. Refer to the appropriate Matrix Switching
System Programming manual for the keyboard setup and
programming instructions.
When Excalibur SE starts up, the AD keyboard is disabled and
cannot be called up. To enable the keyboard, select the
Operator Preferences menu, page 2-6, and set the "Enable AD
Keyboard" option. The operator must have System Setup
status to enable the keyboard.
Note: When the Excalibur SE program is exited and restarted,
the keyboard is disabled and must be enabled again using
the Preferences menu.
The AD keyboard dialog box, page 2-5, contains several
sections, similar in function to the AD model 2078 keyboard.
Monitor and Camera
At the top left of the dialog box are Monitor and Camera
windows and selection buttons for calling a monitor and a
camera and for running Tours and Salvos. These are used the
same as the associated keyboard buttons. Most switching
system video control functions are accessed from a keyboard
by first placing one of the system monitors under the control of
the keyboard ("Calling" a monitor to a keyboard) and then
"Calling" a camera to that monitor.
For example: To call a monitor to the Excalibur SE
"keyboard", first select the monitor number on the "Enter"
keypad, then select the "Mon" button at the left. The
Monitor number is then displayed in the Monitor window
above.
To call a camera to that monitor, first select the camera
number on the "Enter" keypad, then select the "Camera"
button at the left. The Camera number is then displayed in
the Camera window above.
Enter
The Enter keypad to the right of the Monitor and Camera
groups is used to enter numeric data for all keyboard
operations, such as monitor number, camera number, Tour or
Salvo number, etc. As each number is selected, the digit is
displayed in the Enter window above. The Clear button clears
the Enter display window.
Auxiliary
The Auxiliary On and Off buttons at the top right of the
keyboard dialog box control latching or momentary auxiliary
relays at the selected camera Receiver.
Lens
The Lens control buttons below the Auxiliary buttons control
the Iris (Close or Open), Focus (Near or Far), and Zoom (Wide
or Tele) of a motorized lens on the selected camera.
Switcher Select
At the bottom left of the keyboard is a selection group to
identify the Matrix Switcher being controlled by the keyboard.
The name shown in this list is defined in the Port setup
function (described in the Excalibur SE Installation and Setup
Instructions manual, OP5400SP). If no name has been
defined, the Switcher number is displayed. Only one switcher
can be controlled by the keyboard in the Excalibur SE version.
Pan/Tilt
The lower middle section of the keyboard provides pan/tilt
control buttons for the selected camera. To move the camera,
select the arrow in the direction that you want the camera to
move. The camera pan/tilt motion continues as long as the
mouse pointer is on an arrow and the left mouse button is held
down. When the left mouse button is released or the pointer
moved, the pan/tilt action stops.
