5/8 Port Fast Ethernet N-way Switches
The N-way switches are essential for moving workgroups from the
conventional 10Mbps shared Ethernet collision domain to multiple dedicated
Ethernet segments. These switches deliver dedicated 100Mbps links to each
attached LAN segment (independent collision domain) or attached PCs all with conventional cabling and adapters.
They completely overcome the bottleneck of shared 10Mbps Ethernet networks by providing a wide bandwidth.
Which makes them ideal for increasing the throughput of interconnected Ethernet hubs or server farms.
On top of that, they use autonegotiation to select the optimal trans-mission speed and mode for each connection.
The store-and-forward switching mechanism is adopted in the series of ALFA switches.
And, they even provide flow control via back pressure to minimize packet loss.
Back-pressure jamming flow control in half-duplex mode
Store-and-forward scheme to forward packets.
Operates at maximum packet filtering and forwarding rate.
Routing table contains 1K(AFS05E) & 8K(AFS08E) entries
per unit to store MAC address for attached network nodes
