8.1B Device Id

Hold SET LOCATE and press PLAY. This displays the ID number of each ADAT in
a system and is supplied in case you need to quickly know which ADAT is where in
the chain.

8.1C Auto Input Monitor Option Select

Hold SET LOCATE and press AUTO INPUT. When Auto Input is disabled, record
enabled channels are always monitored from the inputs on the back panel. This
function is only used when Auto Input is enabled (the LED is on) although Auto Input
can be turned on or off regardless of Auto Input status. It toggles between "In"
(monitors input when not playing or recording) and "tAPE" (monitors tape when not
playing/recording, therefore what is at the inputs will not be heard).

8.1D Software Version

Hold SET LOCATE and press FAST FORWARD. This function temporarily displays
the software version of each ADAT.

8.1E Tape Write Protect Status

Hold SET LOCATE and press RECORD CHANNEL 1. This temporarily displays the
record tab status of whatever tape is inserted in the ADAT. "rEcd" means that the
tape is not write protected and you can record."Prot" means the tape has had its
protect tab removed and is write protected.

8.1F Monitor/Audio Path Select

Hold SET LOCATE and press ALL INPUT. Toggles between two options: "In" and
"dAC".
1 "In" - input channel audio comes directly from input, while non-input channel audio
(what is already on tape) goes through the DAC.
2 "dAC" - ALL audio goes through the DACs. The DAC is the Digital to Audio
Converter and is the process where the digital data gets returned to audio. In
normal circumstances you only need to hear the audio at the input stage and the
ADAT will always power up this way. However, it may be critical for you to hear
audio results AFTER the A to D (analog to digital) conversion process which is
why the DAC option is provided.
This is not quite the same as "monitoring off the record head". There are things that
could occur that you may find disturbing. For instance, during punch in/out, you will
hear very obvious clicks. (However, these clicks will not be on tape, it is purely a
