  • Page 12 • The ONT should be located within a region that is less than 25ft from the point of entry of cables entering the physical structure of the building." • The 2364 ONT must be mounted in an area with access to existing customer wiring and grounding.   • Page 13 - If you must mount the 2364 ONT on a dark colored wall, allow a gap of at least half an inch between the ONT and the wall, allowing air to flow behind the ONT and cool the unit. A screen should be placed around the gap to prevent bees, wasps and hornets from building a nest behind the ONT that would obstruct air flow.

    2. Carefully remove the ONT and outer enclosure from the container(s). 3. Examine the units and cables for signs of damage or other mishandling. 4. Check the packing list to verify receipt of all components. Contact Calix immediately to report any discrepancies. 3.4 Installing the UPS Follow the installation instructions that came with the UPS.

    3.5.2 3.5.1 Mounting the Outer Enclosure Use the following steps to mount the 2364 ONT outer enclosure. If the electronics panel has been inserted into the outer enclosure, they must be separated prior to installation of the ONT outer enclosure.
  • Page 16 5. Pre-drill the marked locations and install fasteners or anchors appropriate to the mounting surface and the weight of the ON 2364. Please consider that the weight of the 2364 ONT in its enclosure may exceed twenty pounds, depending on your configuration.

    To run the ground wire, use the following steps: 1. Terminate a #6 solid copper ground wire into the grounding lug. If you are installing the 2364 ONT electronics panel without the outer enclosure, refer to Figure 3-6 for the location of the grounding lug. If you are installing the outer ONT enclosure refer to Figure 3-7 for the location of the grounding lug.

  • Page 24 2. If necessary, tie wrap both the #6 ground wire and UPS wire run to the buried fiber drop riser conduit. 3.8.1.2 ONT Power Connector The 2364 ONT is provided with a 7-pin conductor socket and plug. There are a two power connectors available: IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector).

  • Page 27 10. The maximum length of the DC drop is determined by the gauge of the power wire used. The power plug is limited to a maximum gauge of 16AWG. Larger gauges can be supported by compatible lugs. Contact Calix for details.

    IBTB (Intersystem Bonding Terminator). The ground bond should not be made to the ground lug inside the ONT. Calix can provide references to acceptable IBTB devices if requested (some are referenced in the “Calix Grounding, Bonding, and Pro- tection Application Note”).

    TEPS 3.10 Connecting Telephone Service (POTS) Wires Use the following steps to install the customer-supplied telephone service or POTS wires. The 2364 ONT has four POTS service points which are labeled POTS 1-4. Caution: The 2364 ONT POTS interfaces are designed for intra-building use. Intra-building implies phones within the same structure on which the ONT is mounted.
