Anleitung HEC 450
The following safety and operating instructions
should be read carefully and followed!
1.1 Before carrying out any work on the hedge
trimmer, remove the mains plug in the following
cases:
- faulty cable
- cleaning the blades
- checks in case of malfunctions
- cleaning and maintenance
- when the appliance is left unattended
1.2 Operation of hedge trimmers involves special
risks.
1.3 The hedge trimmer may only be operated with
both hands.
1.4 When working with the hedge trimmer, make
sure that you have a secure stance and wear
stout footwear.
1.5 Do not use the hedge trimmer while it is raining;
do not cut wet hedges. Do not leave the
appliance outdoors. It must not be used when
wet.
1.6 During cutting, you should wear safety glasses.
1.7 Always wear adequate working clothes such as
gloves and non-slip shoes. Do not wear loose
garments.
Use a hairnet for long hair.
1.8 Avoid abnormal postures and provide for a
secure stance.
1.9 While working, hold the appliance at a safe
distance from the body.
1.10 Make sure that no people or animals are within
the working or swivelling range.
1.11 Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle only.
1.12 Keep the cable out of the swivelling range.
1.13 Check the connecting cable for traces of
damage and ageing before use.
1.14 The hedge trimmer may only be used if the
connecting cable is free of faults.
1.15 Do not pull the cable to remove the mains plug
from the socket or for carrying the appliance.
Avoid any damage of the cable.
1.16 Protect the cable against heat, aggressive
liquids and faults caused by sharp edges.
Replace faulty cables immediately.
1.17 The cutting mechanism must be checked
regularly for faults. If necessary, contact the
Einhell After-Sales Service or an authorized
workshop for proper repair.
1.18 If the cutting mechanism is blocked e.g. by thick
branches or the like, first unplug the mains plug
and then remove the cause of the blockage.
1.19 Store the hedge trimmer in a dry, safe place out
of reach of children.
1.20 After use, store the appliance in such a way
that the blades can not be touched by hand.

1.21 Avoid excessive wear and inappropriate use of
the tool, i. e. do not carry out works for which
the hedge trimmer was not designed.
1.22 Only use cables and plug-and-socket
connectors which comply with the requirements
for outdoor applications:
- Connections
The connection leads used may not be of a
lighter duty class than light rubber-insulated
H07RN-F in accordance with DIN 57282/VDE
0282 and they must have a cross section of at
least 1.5 mm
2
. The plugs must be earthed and
the connection splash-proof. The connection
cable must be fed through the strain-relief hook
on the handle bar and plugged into the switch-
plug combination.
- For operation of electric appliances we
recommend the use of a leakage current
protector or a ground-fault circuit interrupter.
Please consult your authorized electrician!
1.23 The hedge trimmer must be checked and
serviced properly at regular intervals. Replace
damaged blades only in pairs. In case of
damage caused by impact or shocks, a check
by a specialist is absolutely necessary.
1.24 Careful maintenance of your tool is essential.
Keep the tool clean and sharp in order to
provide for proper and safe operation.
The following maintenance instructions should
be observed and followed.
1.25 According to the provisions of the agricultural
cooperatives only persons above the age of 17
years are allowed to carry out works with
electrically operated hedge trimmers. Persons
under age 16 may perform such works if
supervised by an adult.
1.26 Only use original spare parts supplied by the
manufacturer.
