Chapter 3. Maintenance

This chapter provides instructions on how to maintain the hardware and software.
Note: Two or more Lenovo Storage DX8200N storage systems provide a high available solution with full
functions. In the high available solution, service degradation is allowed on condition that at least one system
is active. Before you perform any maintenance, ensure that at least one system stays active.

System board

To maintain the system board, do the following:
1. Replace the system board. For instructions on how to replace the system board, refer to the Lenovo
System x3650 M5 Installation and Service Guide at:
http://datacentersupport.lenovo.com
2. Update the machine type. See "Updating the default Vital Product Data information" on page 3.
3. Update the firmware for UEFI, IMM, pDSA, and addon cards. To download the latest version of the
firmware, go to the Lenovo Support Web site at:
http://datacentersupport.lenovo.com
You can use the Bootable Media Creator (BoMC) to create bootable media that is suitable for applying
firmware updates. For instructions on how to use the BoMC to update the firmware, go to:
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/lnvo-bomc
4. Configure the UEFI settings. See "Configuring the UEFI settings" on page 3.

Adapters

To maintain the adapters, do the following:
1. Install the adapters.
For the allocation of adapters, see "PCIe adapters" on page 1.
For instructions on how to install the adapters, refer to the Lenovo System x3650 M5 Installation and
Service Guide, which is available for download at:
http://datacentersupport.lenovo.com
2. Update the firmware for the adapters.
To download the latest version of the firmware, go the Lenovo Support Web site at:
http://datacentersupport.lenovo.com
You can use the BoMC to create bootable media that is suitable for applying firmware updates. For
instructions on how to use the BoMC to update the firmware, go to:
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/lnvo-bomc

Drives

To maintain the drives, do the following:
1. Log in to NexentaStor 5.0 Command Line Interface (CLI).
2. Identify the failed drive:
CLI@nexenta> disk list -x
The drive is failed if the STATE is RETIRED.
