Model WC600 Variable Speed Cutter
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Set Up:
The WC600 is supplied with three sets of entrance/
exit bushings. The 5/16" (7.94mm) bushing set is
installed in the unit, and the 1/8" (3.17 mm) and 1/
4" (6.35 mm) sets are bagged as accessories. Cus-
tom bushing sets are available as options, contact
factory for details.
The unit also includes two blades, one designed for
cutting wire, and one for flexible tubing. The tubing
blade (thin, pointed blade) is installed in the unit and
the wire blade (blunt, flat blade) is bagged as an
accessory. Custom blades are also available, con-
tact factory for details. Also included as accessories
are three Allen wrenches, 5/64", 3/32" and 1/8".
CAUTION: DO NOT use the tubing blade to cut wire
as this will severely damage the blade. Also, use of
the wire blade to cut tubing will result in distorted
cut ends.
The WC600 should be used with a tension dereeler
for most applications. Use of the Model DE700
Compensating Dereeler is recommended. CAUTION:
Improper tensioning of the material, caused by use
of an incorrect dereeler, may cause inconsistencies
in cut lengths.
Using the carrying handles on the sides of the unit,
place the WC600 on a sturdy workbench. We rec-
ommend the unit be positioned so that the right cor-
ner of the exit chute is even with the right corner of
the bench. Short cut lengths will roll out the front
of the exit chute, and long lengths will exit out the
end of the chute. Place a suitable material collec-
tion bin underneath the exit chute to catch cut pieces.
If using the DE700 (or any other tensioning dereeler),
place the dereeler to the left side of the WC600, at
least 24" from the entrance bushing in a straight
line, and align the lower pulley of the DE700 with
the entrance bushing of the WC600. If using the
DE700, refer to its operating manual for further set-
up details.
Connect the power cord to the IEC connector and
plug the unit into the appropriate power supply, ei-
ther 115V 60HZ or 230V 50HZ. NOTE: 230V units
are shipped without plugs. Wire on appropriate plug.
Color
coding
is
brown=live,
green=ground.
Place the material to be cut on the dereeler. If the
material is wire, it will be necessary to change the
blade in the unit, see next page for instructions. Also,
if the material requires the use of the 1/8" (3.17
mm) or 1/4" (6.35 mm) bushing sets, it will be nec-
essary to install these, see next page for instruc-
tions. With the proper blade and bushings installed,
open the cover of the WC600 by pulling up on it
gently to release the magnetic catch. Feed the ma-
terial into the entrance bushing and raise the feed
roller using the lifter. If necessary, the feed roller
may be locked in the lifted position for easier feed-
ing of the material. Feed the material between the
feed rollers, and through the exit bushing of the
WC600. Release the feed roller and adjust the roller
tension for the material using the adjusting knob on
top of the roller. Clockwise rotation of the knob will
result in more tension, counterclockwise rotation will
result in less tension.
Close the cover, and turn the unit on using the I/O
switch at the back of the unit. Press "Jog" to move
material forward slightly, and "Cut" to cut off a piece.
The unit is now ready for programming.
Operation:
The Batch Screen appears on the keypad display
upon power-up. If you wish to program in a one-
time only run, enter "0" for no batch. Run param-
eters will not be stored if no batch number is en-
tered. If you wish to create a batch, enter the num-
ber shown after "Enter new batch #". Once a batch
has been created, it can be run again simply by in-
putting its batch number on the Batch Screen.
Once "0" or the next batch number has been en-
tered, the Edit Screen appears. The first line indi-
cates the length units for this batch or run is inches.
To change to millimeters, use the plus (+) or minus
(-) keys to toggle. Press "Enter". The cursor will
advance to the length value. Enter the desired length.
If a mistake is made, press the "BS" key to back-
space over the entry. Length values from .001 to
999,999.999 may be entered in the inches mode,
with two decimal places in millimeter mode. When
the desired length is displayed, press "Enter".
The next value is length compensation. The default
is 0, or the + or - keys may be used to add or
decrease length compensation of plus or minus 1 -
blue=neutral,
99% of the inputted length. NOTE: Often it will not
be known if length compensation is needed until after
a run is completed. If programming a batch, leave
the field at 0 and edit the batch later if necessary to
