1. GENERAL
This practice provides installation and maintenance
procedures for the ADTRAN Total Access 1000
DSLAM Local Power ATM Power Supply Unit.
Figure 1 is an illustration of the Total Access 1000
DSLAM ATM PSU.
Revision History
This is the initial release of this document. Future
revisions to this document will be explained in this
subsection.
Features
The Total Access 1000 DSLAM Local Power ATM
PSU, P/N 1179018L1, includes the following features:
• Converts incoming -48 VDC local power to
regulated buss voltages
• Provision free plug and play
• Front Panel status LED
• Meets FCC, NEBS Level 3, and UL 60950
requirements
General Description
The Total Access 1000 DSLAM Local Power ATM
PSU is a common module plug-in unit designed for
use in the ADTRAN Total Access 1000 DSLAM
channel bank. The PSU accepts local power (-42 VDC
minimum -56 VDC maximum) from local power

terminal on the backplane. Through switchmode
operation, the PSU converts the local voltage to four
buss voltages: +5 V, +3.3 V, +2.5 V, and +22 V.
These voltages are distributed on the Total Access
1000 backplane for use by other cards in the system.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference,
and (2) this device must accept any interference
received, including interference that may cause
undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by
ADTRAN could void the user's authority to operate
this equipment.
