Performing A Dirac Live Room Calibration
Measure
The Dirac Live software will now play several test tones through our processor, amplifier,
and speakers, and measure the response of your speakers and room using your calibrated
microphone. For the central "sweet spot" measurement, which is the most critical, you should be
sure that the microphone is located exactly at your preferred listening position.
The Dirac Live software will instruct you to make a different number of measurements depending
on which Seating Arrangement you have chosen. While you can choose to make fewer
measurements you will get the best result if you complete the entire set. In any case you MUST
take the central measurement at your preferred listening location.
Note: In order to make accurate measurements the calibrated microphone must have an
unobstructed path between itself and each of your speakers. When taking measurements,
avoid standing where you will block the microphone, and avoid placing the microphone where
it will be blocked by furniture.
We suggest crouching or squatting down behind a centrally located couch or chair when
actually taking measurements. This minimizes the likelihood that your body will interfere with
the measurements and assures that any effect your presence has on the measurements will be
symmetrical between the left and right.
Note: The microphone MUST NOT move while a single measurement is in progress. Make sure
that the microphone is seated securely before pressing the Measure button.
