The diagram shows the relationship between the hardware and the software. The FPGA conditions all of the input data and processes it into packets. Digitized audio data enters the FPGA and is transmitted to the processor via the TDM bus.
  • Page 45 All tasks will be able to communicate with the BITE task for the purpose of send- ing fault information and/or system status information. The user can interface to the Model FA5000 CVR in several different ways. All of the in- terfaces use an Ethernet network as the means for transferring data. The most common interface will be to a web server via an HTTP connection.

Connections Figure 4. Recorder Data Flow Diagram The Model FA5000 CVR contains a CSMU (non-volatile memory) that is used to store au- dio data, flight data, and DataLink messages. Since the memory size is finite, it is possi- ble for the memory to fill up with the information being stored. This situation will be han- dled by the Data Storage task that is responsible for writing the data to the CSMU.
  • Page 47: Software Module Description

This is used to coordinate which tasks are running at any giv- en time. The Model FA5000 CVR will be able to be loaded via the TCP/IP interface used by the GSE task. This task will report a checksum of the loaded code to ensure the integrity of the newly loaded software.

CVR DATALINK INPUT INTERFACE The FA5000 CVR was developed specifically to satisfy recent requirements for Con- troller Pilot DataLink Communications (CPDLC or “DataLink”) recording in addition to the two hour audio recording capability. The DataLink recording function of the CVR is generally compatible with ARINC 429, ARINC 757/A, ARINC 758, and ARINC 619.

Figure 21. Generic DataLink Message Encapsulation Structure As indicated in Section 1 above, the FA5000 DataLink CVR also includes an ARINC 429 OMS output interface (Pins 50/51) that provides a Label 350 CVR status word output once per second. This word, in its entirety, along with any DataLink Label 270 or 276 input status words are also recorded as part of the DataLink stream.

AVIATION PRODUCTS COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL Model FA5000 DataLink Memory Capacity The CVR is currently configured with 32 Mbytes of dedicated DataLink recording memory. This provides for a recording duration far in excess of the existing two hour requirement. DataLink Retrieval Recorded DataLink information is retrieved from the CVR in much the same way as audio data.
