How do I find a replacement boot for the exaust port? Was this boot supposed to be glued in? If so what type of glue?

1 comments:
Mr. Anderson

The exhaust port boot, referred to as the "blower discharge coupling boot," is a rubber coupling that is an integral part of the vent system and must be used in every installation. It is not stated that the boot itself should be glued. However, to start with an elbow on the discharge port, a short section of straight 2” pipe must be cut and glued into the elbow before connecting to the boot.

For gluing, use primer and cement specifically designed for the pipe type, applied with a natural bristle brush or roller. A dauber applicator is only for pipes 2” and below. Ensure the pipe end is chamfered and burr-free before gluing.

To find a replacement boot, refer to the repair parts list or contact a supplier using the part description "blower discharge coupling boot" for the American Standard residential unit.
