OPERATING THE VEHICLE
DRIVING THE VEHICLE
Select Lever Positions
Press the select lever button on the front of the
lever while shifting positions.
D Position (Drive)
This position is for normal driving. The vehicle
systems work together to provide a mix of
performance, fuel efficiency, and high-voltage
battery management.
B Position (Brake)
This position is designed for situations where
additional engine or regenerative braking may
be helpful, such as maintaining speeds when
driving down slopes. It also assists in
recharging the high-voltage battery by applying additional regenerative braking when the
accelerator pedal has been released.
Regenerative brakes slow the vehicle by using the kinetic energy from the moving wheels
to generate electricity. This works together with the traditional mechanical brakes to slow
the vehicle.
Pedestrian Alert System
When driving with the gasoline engine stopped, a sound will play to warn nearby people of
the vehicle's movement. This sound changes with the driving speed and is continuous
when the vehicle is reversing.
Hybrid System Modes
You can select the operating mode of the
hybrid system using the Hybrid Mode switch
on the center console. Each mode is designed
to allow you to manage the high-voltage
battery state of charge based on varying
driving conditions.
