8.1 Introduction

Static routes tell the ExpWave routing information that it cannot learn automatically through other means. This can
arise in cases where RIP is disabled on the LAN.
Each remote node specifies only the network to which the gateway is directly connected, and the ExpWave has no
knowledge of the networks beyond. For instance, the ExpWave knows about network N2 in the following diagram
through remote node Router 1. However, the ExpWave is unable to route a packet to network N3 because it doesn't
know that there is a route through the same remote node Router 1 (via gateway Router 2). The static routes are for
you to tell the ExpWave about the networks beyond the remote nodes.

8.2 IP Static Route Setup

You configure IP static routes in menu 12. 1, by selecting one of the IP static routes as shown below. Enter 12 from
the main menu.
