Why won't certain files play?
The ACTIVY Media Player may not support the audio or video format used in
the file. For information on what media formats the ACTIVY Media Player
supports, please see the next chapter.
Can I play music while watching a photo slideshow?
Yes. Go to the Music menu and start playing a Song playlist. While the music is
playing, you can go to the Photos menu and start playing your slideshow with
the music in the background.
I would like to use a wireless connection from my wireless router to both the
ACTIVY Media Player and Media Server, is that OK?
For streaming video, it is recommended that only one of the links be wireless,
either the Digital Entertainer to the router or your media server to the router.
Connect the other device to the router using a wired connection. Having the
Digital Entertainer and Media Sewer both connected wirelessly may degrade
performance for video, but music and photo should be fine.
I have a computer that is a member of a Windows domain. I installed Windows
Media Connect and shared some files, but my ACTIVY Media Player can't see
the server. What's wrong?
Unfortunately, this particular setup is not supported. A possible solution is to
completely uninstall Windows Media Connect, create a local user account with
administrator privileges, and install and use Media Connect while logged in as
this local user. Alternatively, you can use a third-party UPnP-compatible media
server, such as TwonkyVision. If you do install the TwonkyMedia server, please
make sure that all the check boxes are left unchecked (i.e. don't install as a
system service) when given installation options.
I'm using the TwonkyVision media server and I am experiencing video
stuttering, what can I do to improve performance?
Try increasing the streaming buffer size (under Performance settings) to 64000
or greater to help improve the video streaming performance.
How can I play back protected (DRM) files bought from an online service such
as Napster, MSN Music or MovieLink?
Since these files are copyprotected, they can only be played if served from a
PC using Windows Media Connect or the Intel® Viiv™ Media Server. Other
third-party media servers will not work.
