PRIOR TO OPERATION

1. Pow er source
Ensure that the pow er source to be utilized conform s
to the pow er requirem ents specified on the product
nam eplate.
2. Pow er sw itch
Ensure that the pow er sw itch is in the OFF position.
If the plug is connected to a receptacle w hile the
pow er sw itch is in the ON position, the pow er tool
w ill start operating im m ediately, w hich could cause
a serious accident.
3. Extension cord
When the w ork area is rem oved from the pow er
source, use an extension cord of sufficient thickness
and rated capacity. The extension cord should be
kept as short as practicable.
4. Prepare a w ooden w orkbench (Fig. 1)
Since the saw blade w ill extend beyond the low er
surface of the lum ber, place the lum ber on a
w orkbench w hen cutting. If a square block is utilized
as a w orkbench, select level ground to ensure it
is properly stabilized. An unstable w orkbench w ill
result in hazardous operation.
5. When using the side handle (Fig. 2)
Securely attach the side handle to the base w ith
the tw o flat head screw s (M 6 × 16) w hen using the
side handle.
CAUTION
To avoid possible accident, alw ays ensure that the
portion of lum ber rem aining after cutting is securely
anchored or held in position.

ADJUSTING THE SAW PRIOR TO USE

1. Adjusting the cutting depth
As show n in Fig. 3, hold the handle w ith one hand
w hile loosening the knob w ith the other.
The cutting depth can be adjusted by m oving the
base to the desired position. In such m anner adjust
the cutting depth and then securely retighten the
knob.
2. Adjusting the riving knife
Loosen the hexagonal - socket bolt used to clam p
the riving knife, adjust the riving knife so that the
distance betw een the riving knife and the rim of
the blade is not m ore than 3 m m , and the rim of
the blade does not extend m ore than 3 m m beyond
the low est edge of the riving knife (Fig. 4) and
securely retighten the bolt.
3. Adjusting the angle of inclination
As show n in Fig. 5 (A), Fig. 5 (B) by loosening the
w ing-nut on the incline gauge and the w ing-bolt on
the base, the saw blade m ay be inclined to a
m axim um angle of 45° in relation to the base. After
having com pleted the adjustm ent, reconfirm that
the w ing-nut and the w ing-bolt are firm ly tightened.
4. Regulating the guide (Fig. 6)
The cutting position can be regulated by m oving
the guide to the left or right after loosening its
w ingbolt. The guide m ay be m ounted on either the
right or left side of the tool.

5. Adjusting the guide piece
On the circular saw , it is possible to m ake fine
adjustm ent of the fixing position of the guide piece,
w here the saw blade and the prem arked line are
to be aligned.
When the saw is shipped from the factory, the
linear portion of a front scale on the guide piece
is aligned w ith the central position of the saw blade
(Fig. 7).
Loosen the fixed M 4 screw on the guide piece,
should the fixing position be w rong, and m ake
necessary adjustm ent of the position.
6. Using the dust collector
To use the vacuum cleaner to gather up saw dust,
attach the suction hose to the dust collector w hich
is attached to the m ain unit by M 4 and M 5 screw s.
When attaching the dust collector alw ays be sure
to change the lever to the short type at this sam e
tim e (Fig. 13).
CAUTION
Continuing to use the lever that w as attached to
the m ain unit prior to shipping from the factory w ill
cause it to bind on the dust collector and w ill
interfere w ith the low er guard operation.

CUTTING PROCEDURES

1. Place the base on the m aterial, then align the
prem arked line and the saw blade w ith the guide
piece front scale section at the front of the base
(Fig. 7).
When the base is not slanted, use the large cutout
as the guide (Fig. 7, Fig. 8 (A)).
If the base is slanted (45 degrees), use the sm all
front scale as the guide (Fig. 7, Fig. 8 (B)).
2. Ensure that the sw itch is turned to the ON position
before the saw blade com es in contact w ith the
lum ber. The sw itch is turned ON w hen the trigger
is squeezed; and OFF w hen the trigger is released.
3. M oving the saw straight at a constant speed w ill
produce optim um cutting.
CAUTIONS
Prior to cutting operation, m ake sure the m aterial you
are going to cut. If the m aterial to be cut is expected to
generate harm ful / toxic dusts, m ake sure the dust bag or
appropriate dust extraction system is connected w ith
dust outlet tightly.
Wear the dust m ask additionally, if available.
A coating of PFTE is applied to the bases of the C9BU2
type. Be careful not to press too hard on the unit body
since this tends to place a heavy load on the m otor.
Using a gentle pressure w ill m ake the piece slide easier
and allow cutting w ith less force. Trying to cut w ood that
is covered w ith hard particle m aterial such as sand or
m etal chips tends to easily scratch dam age the surface
coating so use caution.
Before starting to saw , ensure that the saw blade
has reached full speed revolution.
Should the saw blade be stopped or m ade an
abnorm al noise during operation, turn off the sw itch
im m ediately.
Alw ays take care in preventing the pow er cord from
com ing near the revolving saw blade.
Using the circular saw with the saw blade facing
upw ards or sidew ays is very hazardous. Such
uncommon applications should be avoided.
